Program
The School of Industrial Design (EDI) presents the Technological Specialization in Product Development, code SNIES 109034, which focuses on manufacturing processes and prototypes, and provides professionals, technologists and entrepreneurs, the only graduate program in the Northeast region focused on product development, which meets the requirements of the demanding markets.

The applicant for the Technological Specialization in Product Development is a professional or technician with a broad vision of the process of designing and conceptualizing new products. They possess intermediate knowledge in the use of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools as a means to define concrete design concepts conceived to solve specific problems within their fields of action. They have the ability to integrate into multidisciplinary teams, diagnose, propose solutions, participate in the execution of projects related to their specialty, and maintain a critical and proactive attitude towards societal issues in their specific area.
In general, the student of the Specialization can be categorized into the following profiles:
Technicians and technologists in areas related to product design and development.
Professionals in industrial design, architects, and engineers in product design or related fields.
Mechanical Engineers, Industrial Engineers, or engineers in fields related to the conceptualization, development, and manufacturing of industrial products.

The Technological Specialist in Product Development will be an integral professional with solid theoretical and practical knowledge based on an excellent training in methods, techniques and RP and RT technologies used during the ideation and definition phases of the product development life cycle. They are highly qualified to:
Employ RP and RT technologies in new product design and development processes.
Formulate creative, successful and cost-effective design strategies to meet market needs.
Apply design approaches to lead new product development projects, based on customer satisfaction, market needs, innovation and trends, supported by the reduction of time and costs through the conception of design as a process.
Promote, facilitate and develop the application of knowledge of advanced technologies for prototyping and rapid manufacturing in design related to the implementation of new technologies in the innovation process.
Make agile and accurate decisions in the product development process, through the use of RP and RT technologies.
Implement the use of RP and RT Technologies as a key element in the development of competitive advantages.
Lead changes in the current way of considering the process of design and development of new products in the industry of Santander.

Additionally, to facilitate access to postgraduate programs, the UIS has signed various agreements with entities specialized in educational credit. These agreements seek facilities and better credit conditions for UIS students.
Students with a voting certificate from Colombia’s last popular election process may request a 10% discount on tuition fees.

UIS registration form duly completed and signed.
Resume, in the UIS format established institutionally for this purpose, with the attachment of certificates and copies of documents that corroborate what is described in it.
Copy of valid identity document valid in Colombia or valid passport for foreigners.
Recent document type photo, preferably in digital format, white background 3×4.
Copy of the diploma or copy of the undergraduate degree certificate required by the program, issued by an institution of higher education recognized in Colombia.
Note 1: If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. The degrees must be validated by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic.
Certificate of the grades obtained in the undergraduate program required by the program, including the weighted average.
Note 2: In the case of UIS undergraduate graduates, it is not necessary to provide this document.
Receipt of payment issued by the UIS treasury for the current value of the registration fee or receipt of consignment in the account authorized by the UIS.
