The Doctorate in Education, Culture, and Society adopts an interdisciplinary approach, analyzing teaching, learning, evaluation, and training through perspectives from the humanities, basic sciences, engineering, and health. This interdisciplinarity ensures program flexibility, allowing the admission of students from diverse academic backgrounds, provided they demonstrate prior experience in education, either as educators or researchers.

The program at Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) is supported by distinguished research groups and highly regarded doctors from various disciplines. Drawing on their extensive experience in educational processes across academic levels, these experts guide and support students in conducting interdisciplinary, multidimensional research. This research focuses on educational processes and their intricate relationship with society and culture. The program’s explicit emphasis on the contextual interplay of education with societal and cultural dimensions sets it apart from other advanced training programs and underscores its unique contribution to the scientific community in the field of education.

The curriculum places the student at the center of the learning process, offering flexible training opportunities that are directly aligned with the development of their research project. Designed to be completed in eight (8) academic semesters, the program ensures that, with the guidance of faculty and research groups, students can achieve their goal of earning a degree as a Doctor in Education, Culture, and Society.
