Program

The Master’s Degree in Chemistry at the Universidad Industrial de Santander provides a solid foundation in the study, application, and deep understanding of chemistry as a key science that bridges all exact and natural sciences. With a focus on promoting and strengthening organized research activity, the program aims to facilitate the development of advanced knowledge and the resolution of theoretical and practical problems from an interdisciplinary viewpoint.

This program presents an ideal opportunity for chemistry professionals to sharpen their experimental techniques and modern research methodologies, while also serving as a launching pad for students who aspire to pursue advanced academic studies at the doctoral level.

The applicant for the Master of Chemistry at the Universidad Industrial de Santander (UIS) is a professional in chemistry or related areas who shows interest in starting or continuing his research projects in this specific branch of knowledge. The university has a mechanism through which a student’s financial obligations can be partially or totally covered by a company or entity that wishes to support the student.

Also, various forms of payment have been arranged so that students can combine the available forms of payment according to their particular conditions. On the page “Start the registration process”, you will find the available options.

Additionally, to facilitate access to postgraduate programs, the UIS has signed various agreements with entities specialized in educational credit. These agreements seek facilities and better credit conditions for UIS students.

Students with a voting certificate from Colombia’s last popular election process may request a 10% discount on tuition fees.

REGISTRATION

Requirements

Documentation must be submitted digitally via email at posqui@uis.edu.co in PDF format.

Note: By clicking the “Registration” button, you will find the forms needed to complete the requested documentation below.

  1. UIS registration form duly filled out and signed.

  2. Curriculum vitae in the UIS format established for this purpose, along with annexed certificates and copies of documents that corroborate the information provided.

  3. Copy of a valid identification document in Colombia or a valid passport for foreigners.

  4. Recent passport-sized photo, preferably in digital format, with a white background (3×4).

  5. Copy of the diploma or graduation certificate for the undergraduate degree required by the program, issued by a recognized higher education institution in Colombia.

    Note 1:
    If the applicant holds a degree from a foreign university, it must be properly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. Degrees must be validated by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic.

6. Certificate of grades obtained in the undergraduate degree required by the program, including the weighted average.

Note 2: For graduates of the UIS undergraduate program, this document is not required.

7. Receipt of payment issued by the UIS treasury for the current registration fee or a deposit receipt in the account authorized by UIS.

8. Certification of a foreign language level equivalent to or higher than level A1 according to the Common European Framework, based on a standardized test or issued by the UIS Language Institute.

9. Two (2) confidential academic reference letters.

10. Endorsement letter from a research group or center at the Universidad Industrial de Santander or a scientific institution with which there is a current agreement, signed by the director, introducing the applicant to the program.

Note 3: The applicant must submit a mini-proposal for the research project, a maximum of five (5) pages including the bibliography. (This requirement only applies to the master’s program in chemistry).
