Program
This specialization emphasizes on comprehensive training, it seeks to train citizens engaged and able to care for the critically active person, their family, or caregiver, as well as manage intensive care units.
It promotes the development of cognitive, procedural, and attitude skills and affective socio-skills related to leadership, professional identity, assertiveness, and decision-making. In addition, the training of people is of high ethical and professional quality.

The program is aimed at nursing professionals with an interest or experience in critical care who have the characteristics of a leader: dynamic, restless to develop new knowledge, assertiveness, critical thinking, and a willingness to commit to the development of the profession by providing quality nursing care while immersed in a human, ethical, and scientific environment.
Applicants must have the necessary time to develop all on-site and work activities outside of the classroom, which allows them to fulfill the commitments of each subject.

The specialist in Critical Care Nursing Care of the UIS will be a professional with comprehensive training committed to the provision of care and the improvement of the quality of life of individuals, families and communities that require care because they are in critical condition. For this, it must show that:
Provides highly qualified nursing care to individuals, families and communities who require care because they are in critical condition
Applies the nursing process and standardized language as a methodological tool to provide care with high quality
Designs and implements proposals, guidelines and protocols based on scientific evidence necessary for nursing care in coordination with the interdisciplinary team
Care with warmth, ethics, safety and human sensitivity
Leads and defines administrative strategies together with the interdisciplinary team, which allow optimizing the use of resources to provide nursing care
Generates models of care and evaluation of the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of nursing care
Advises programs and organizes nursing care services
Performs analyses of scientific literature and applies them in daily practice
Shares their knowledge and practical experience with people in training in health areas

Additionally, to facilitate access to postgraduate programs, the UIS has signed various agreements with entities specialized in educational credit. These agreements seek facilities and better credit conditions for UIS students.
Students with a voting certificate from Colombia’s last popular election process may request a 10% discount on tuition fees.

Requirements

Note: By clicking on the “Inscripción” (Registration) button you will find the forms to fill out the documentation requested below.
UIS registration form duly completed and signed.
Resume, in the UIS format established institutionally for this purpose, with the attachment of certificates and copies of documents that corroborate what is described in it.
Copy of valid identity document valid in Colombia or valid passport for foreigners.
Recent document type photo, preferably in digital format, white background 3×4.
Copy of the diploma or copy of the undergraduate degree certificate required by the program, issued by an institution of higher education recognized in Colombia.
Note 1: If the applicant has a degree from a foreign university, it must be duly apostilled and translated into Spanish if it is in a foreign language. The degrees must be validated by the Ministry of National Education of the Republic.
Certificate of the grades obtained in the undergraduate program required by the program, including the weighted average.
Note 2: In the case of UIS undergraduate graduates, it is not necessary to provide this document.
Receipt of payment issued by the UIS treasury for the current value of the registration fee or receipt of consignment in the account authorized by the UIS.
